I was called to lend a hand painting the prop bus for the movie Into the Wild. After we were done with the bus, they asked me to be the on set scenic artist for the entire shoot. I had wanted to join the circus for a while. After a while it became a summer camp for aging artisans, who enjoy a cocktail or two. I learned a great deal, had some great opportunities in the film. Met some remarkable people.
This was a few years after ITW, I was ready to jump back in. This time was more working in camp. with poor work conditions. I painted a lot of props and rubber whale knives. This was more like a job you schlepped to and from. The blessing was to step out of that work and really get down with my art.
